Dan Blanchard’s album Awakening (Raga Bhairav) (CD BABY.COM/INDYS) was designed to accompany one’s yoga or other spiritual practice.
The goal of the music featured on the album is to help listeners attain peace and tranquility.
Given Blanchard’s background as a certified yoga instructor, therapist, and Ayurvedic practitioner, he is a musician who understands the therapeutic healing qualities in sound.
Morning Practice
This album was created for early morning spiritual practices. Indian music is often created for different times of the day. Morning is the period that sets the mood for the rest of the day, so Awakening is a soundtrack to help the listener reap the benefits of a peaceful start to the day.
Designed for a meditative flow, Awakening starts off mellow and serene with “Invocation,” peaks rhythmically with “Elation,” then relaxes the listener with the closing track “Integration.” The eight songs on Awakening flow into the next, truly meeting its goal of relaxation and meditative contemplation.
Musicians accompanying Blanchard play the bansuri flute, sarangi, udu and djembe, and tabla, giving Awakening a truly authentic Indian sound.

Blanchard’s highly spiritual music is well-suited for anyone’s morning practice or inspiring moments of contemplation or introspection. The connection between body, mind, and spirit is strengthened when supplemented with this new age ambient album.
