It was a Halloween Monday a few years back. We had had a shamanic gathering which was now over, and I was sitting happily in my easy chair watching the News on a Spokane TV station. Since it was Halloween, one of the segments had to do with a haunted house.
They were showing shots of the ole house and were interviewing the owner. The lady on the show was relating how her daughter use to talk about a playmate in their upstairs, and yet…there was nobody there. She reported that she also felt the presence of ghosts at times. They seemed to be friendly and were not a problem.
The house was being sold because the owner had received a job offer in another city. Then the news reporter was seen in the empty room. He brought up the topic of hauntings and Halloween and then he slowly faded away leaving a totally empty room.
I turned off the TV and out of the blue thought, “let’s see, what we can find there.”
My Journey Began
I started to journey, and in no time I was in that empty room I had just seen on TV. There waiting for me was my faithful psychopomp beast of burden, the angel in animal form who knows where the souls of dead people need to be taken. Then a little girl showed up wearing a blue coat and hat and carrying a teddybear.
I immediately felt an enormous surge of love for the child. I hugged her and asked if she’d come along with me. Yes she would, — after all, she was dressed to go.
I put a ladder on the big beast and we sat down atop, my arms firmly around my little client. Slowly we went through the ceiling and out. Next I saw a skinny man in a gray suit running towards us. I assured her, that nobody could take her away and called for my entire spirit crew to stop this man. They all appeared, but they didn’t stop him; they just stood there. The man came closer, grabbed the girl and ran again.
I figured, that maybe he was supposed to take her to wherever she needed to go; but then I realized that I was still holding the girl, and I was shown a scene!
A Terrible Fight, Then…
A woman appeared, running at them and trying to get the child. A terrible fight ensued : these people were totally out of their minds! I thought I saw a long kitchen knife for an instant, and then…all three were dead.
I hugged the little girl and wiped off her tears; then up we went, or rather rode. Very quickly we arrived on the top of a high cliff and an enormous brightness engulfed us. Then, as if stepping from behind a curtain of light, a man appeared.
I had never seen this image in a journey before, but this man looked like a Renaissance painting of the Good Shepherd Jesus! I handed the child over to him, he took her by the hand and walked with her back behind a curtain of light.
The Other Two
My trusted spirit beast and I turned around and were quickly back in the room. The woman who had been killed was there waiting, all ready to go, too. She was dressed for leaving the house: a black coat and the kind of hat that was worn in the early 1940s. She came right up the ladder and I put my arms around her as we rode up and through the ceiling. I then asked her to forgive, –him, herself and everyone involved.
It took some convincing, but finally she reached down and with a forgiving hand blew a kiss. Soon after we arrived at the same rock ledge. The same Jesus appeared, but when I unloaded her, there was only room for her toes and she was standing on her tip-toes, her heels over the ledge. My spirit beast and I hovered behind to keep her from falling down.
It was a touch and go situation. But then I asked Jesus to step back alittle, so she wouldn’t fall down, and he did. Then he took her by the hand and led her away.
We returned to the empty room to pick up the man. And he was also waiting and wearing the same gray suit. Up he came and out we went. I couldn’t get him to forgive, and thus we landed on a different mountain top, and a different man came to pick him up (maybe a relative, as is often the case).
Thanking the Help
“Any one else?” I asked. “No” was the answer, so I returned my faithful beast of burden to where I usually find him. We frolicked a little bit, then I thanked him and the others for their help, and I returned to my ordinary reality home.
I will place bets that the next owner of the house will find no ghosts there!
Reflections After the Journey
This unusual journey gave me alot to think about. Those people must have been devout Christians, because meeting Jesus up there was not my idea! However, I did feel this tremendous amount of love for the little girl, and I always considered Jesus as a manifestation of love.
I’m usually quite unemotional in the shamanic state of consciousness. I’m doing a job, and that’s all there is to it. Emotions on my journeys appear to come from outside me; an empathic pick up if you will. Also, I have heard about shamans in indigenous cultures pleading with the “Gods” on behalf of their client.
Well look, here I got to do the same thing! Also, somehow it felt like my spirits and I were the ambulance attendants handing the patient over to the doctor. And the patient is the important one!
Our culture has so very much conditioned us to believe in hierarchies. But our shamanic picture proves time and time again that we are all One, all on an equal par. Every tree, ant, rock star, twinkle star, you , me, Arafat, Mulrooney, my cat and even Jesus; we are all part of each other and as such of equal worth. And we are all part of the circle, — — not the triangle.
What an amazing and very unexpected experience this was! I am getting more and more convinced, the universe wants these unresolved issues resolved.
I believe this because events such as this go with such incredible ease. I just wish, more people would and could do this psychopomp work (that’s what they call guiding the dead to their final destination), and share their experiences.
We all have so much to learn from each other in the work we are each being called to do. I hope my experience can help others.
