Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT is an awesome new self-help tool that can change your life for the better in just minutes. This technique was first developed by Dr. Callahan, a psychologist in California. He called it Thought Field Therapy (TFT).
TFT Simplified
Gary Craig, an engineer who is also a personal coach, bought the rights to Dr. Callahan’s TFT, simplified it and has presented it to the world as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).
I heard about EFT and tried using it to cure a terrible head cold I was suffering from and to my utter amazement my head cold disappeared overnight! My miraculous recovery led me to study Gary Craig’s EFT course and then I started teaching it to others.
It is a simple technique that uses the end points of 13 energy meridians on the upper torso and hands. You simply tap with two fingers of one hand on these end points while saying an affirmation about the negative feeling you want to be rid of. The whole procedure takes less than a minute and I have witnessed a woman with severe asthma have her symptoms disappear in less than 5 minutes and they did not return! I am in total awe of this wonderful technique.
Clearing Negative Emotions
EFT is equally awesome at clearing negative emotions like fear, anger or any anxiety. I taught one man to use EFT for his fear of heights. He liked to hike in the mountains but was too frightened to go any where near a lookout and enjoy the view.
Now that he has tapped away his fear he can join other hikers right at the edge of the lookout and reap the rewards of his hike! If fear of any kind is holding you back from enjoying life then you need to learn EFT.
EFT & Children
Children respond very well to EFT. I hope that someday every student will learn EFT in school because it can remove mental blocks.
A good example of this is when I showed a 15 year old girl how to tap for her mental block about math. She is a very good student except for math which she said she had never been able to do well. After she tapped for about 5 minutes with me in July, she went back to school in September and started getting 90% or better in math! Talk about empowerment!
More In-Depth EFT Cases
As you can see, EFT works very quickly in many cases, however, when it comes to chronic problems like depression, arthritis or fibromyalgia it usually takes much longer.
For this reason, when I teach EFT, I like to have my clients learn over the course of a month. In the first lesson you learn the basic technique and in the following three lessons you learn breathing techniques to enhance the effectiveness of EFT and you get into the habit of using EFT for everything that bothers you. This is the beauty of EFT you can use it any time, any where you need it.
The basic premise behind EFT is “the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.”
In other words, when you think about something bad it causes a blockage in the body’s energy flow and then you get a bad feeling. Tapping with EFT clears that energy blockage and the bad feeling goes away. Simple premise, simple solution and a totally awesome technique!
